Snug Harbor Development is an award winning, infill developer of unique real estate with an ecological bent. Founded in 1991 by A. R. (Rick) Gregor, Jr. it has worked on projects in both coastal areas of Virginia and North Carolina. Projects have ranged from smaller tract housing up to million-dollar custom homes on waterfront sites. Its moniker was adopted from it’s original development project of a small marina in the inner city of Norfolk; Snug Harbor Marina, into four waterfront homes. In the past decade and a half Snug Harbor Development and its various partnership entities have been responsible for the construction and development of hundreds of units, both residential and commercial in the mid Atlantic region.
Recent and current projects include Bridgett’s Landing in Virginia Beach; a 16-lot neighborhood with a wooded area remaining in its natural state, Island Estates in Chesapeake; a 33-lot community developed preserving two islands as parks with over 65% of its land area left in a natural state, Mill Dam Landing in Virginia Beach; a custom home community with a woodlands preserve at its rear buffering a small creek, Tranquility by the Bay in Virginia Beach; a 24-unit housing development reflecting an old-style beach cottage community painted in vibrant colors, The Sanctuary at False Cape; two magnificent oceanfront structures with a total of 240 luxury residences in Sandbridge, Windsor Woods in Windsor, Virginia; 62 homes with southern-inspired architecture in a country setting, and Applewood Business Park; a professional office park adjacent to Obici Hospital in Suffolk.
Snug Harbor Development is a true proponent of smart growth offering communities with traditional flavor and many features including large porches, recessed garages, narrow streets, exercise trails and sidewalks, and the preservation of natural strands of trees and other important ecological features. Its communities have garnered recognition and awards from the Elizabeth River Project, the National Wildlife Federation and the National Arbor Day Organization.
A.R. (Rick) Gregor, Jr. the managing member of Snug Harbor Development is also co-owner of The Futura Group, LLC, a construction group, which has built homes in many fine communities. Other related business interests include Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group, Prestige Title Insurance Agency and Snug Harbor Real Estate.
